During SEMICON Europa, the partners of the Silicon Europe Alliance renewed their governance for the year 2024. Erasmia Dupenloup, CEO of the Minalogic cluster, was elected President of the Alliance. Ola Svedin from Mobile Heights (Sweden), Robert Gfrerer from Silicon Alps (Austria), and Frank Bösenberg from Silicon Saxony (Germany) were elected Vice-Presidents.

Launched in October 2015, the Silicon Europe Alliance brings together 12 European clusters with a common ambition: to strengthen the European digital and microelectronics industry by fostering cross-fertilization among the 2000 members of their ecosystems.

Driven by the increasing importance of microelectronics and complementary digital technologies within their respective regions and across Europe, the Alliance partners are committed to implementing concrete actions for their members, directly linked to initiatives developed under the Chips Act:

• The Chips Joint Undertaking, set to launch on November 30, aims to promote synergies and stimulate innovation throughout the microelectronics value chain.
• The Important Project of Common European Interest on microelectronics (IPCEI ME/CT), announced in June 2023, comprises research and development projects covering the entire microelectronics value chain, communication technologies, from materials to chip design tools to manufacturing processes.
• The European Semiconductor Regions Alliance (ESRA), initiated in September 2023, aims to strengthen collaborations between clusters through aligned regional policies.

Ongoing and future actions implemented by Alliance partners:

• Continuing the Silicon Eurocluster project, funded by the European Commission and led by Minalogic, which aims to strengthen the European electronic sector and promote sovereignty in the semiconductor industry. 12 highly promising innovation projects have just been selected under Silicon Eurocluster, each benefiting from a funding of €80,000.
• Disseminating the work of the IPCEI ME/CT.
• Encouraging technological and commercial collaborations among the 2000 members of the Alliance clusters through the organization of events or collective missions such as the Minalogic Business Meetings or also the annual Silicon Saxony Day.
• Enhancing the visibility of the Alliance among key actors of the European Commission.
• Ensuring a European presence at major international trade shows such as CES or SEMICON Taiwan.
